Converting your old 8mm film to DVD allows you to preserve and relive the precious memories held within; at Cine 2 DVD Transfers we provide a trustworthy, efficient and reliable service to help you do just that.
8mm film is a specifically formatted motion picture film. First developed by the company Kodak and released in 1932, 8mm was commercialised as an inexpensive way to film home videos. Also known as standard or regular 8, its defining feature was the 8mm film strip which was traditionally used in accompaniment with a projector for viewing purposes.
If, like most, you find yourself without a projector to view your collection on, or even wish to properly preserve your memories, transferring 8mm to DVD has many benefits. Ordering a new projector will require complex calibration and may also risk your film being damaged.
When 8mm film was commercialised, Kodak's choice of material for the film was Nitrate, as it possessed all the qualities required for its intended purpose. However, the Nitrate-based film is incredibly volatile when in the presence of heat. Due to this, projectors would often cause what is known as 'film burn', which would destroy the captured film.
Another negative quality experienced when using a projector to view this film was the occurrence of ‘light leaks’. This causes colour within the film to become unbalanced, which results in a grainy and obtrusive picture.
When you transfer your 8mm film to DVD, you can take advantage of a clearer, uninterrupted viewing experience, as well as posing no risk to your original 8mm copy.
