Another classic Christmas tale, only this time with a twist. The Muppets’ anarchic retelling of Charles Dickens’ famous tale is a guaranteed laugh-a-minute for young and old alike. Michael Caine plays the role of Scrooge, his straight-faced performance making the antics of the puppets around him even more hilarious.
Elf
Perhaps Will Ferrell’s defining moment, this gloriously silly film about a man raised as an Elf returning to New York City became an instant classic upon its release. Another film which is laugh-out-loud funny for all ages, it also has a real heart to capture all that is brilliant about the festive period.
Miracle on 34th Street
A true film about the real spirit of Christmas from Hollywood’s Golden Age, this is the perfect movie for any young Santa sceptics. This might be a comedy, but it’s a comedy with a heart of gold and many touching moments that convey a real sense of the wonder, magic and possibilities of Christmas without being too preachy.
It’s a Wonderful Life
The ultimate Christmas film and one of the best movies of all time, full stop. This fantastical tale has pretty much everything: a story about redemption and the worth of humanity, it’s pretty much the only Christmas film you ever need for getting to the real spirit of the time and giving you reasons to be cheerful. Even the Grinch himself would have a tear in his eye watching this.
